Hi all, Well despite my initial determination to make my site blog a regular feature, almost a year slipped by since my last post about my Blacksmith's house project. Oops! So what's been happening? Well since before Christmas, and with a hiatus in December with a few weeks of flu and subsequent recovery, I've been working on probably my largest one-chunk commission to date; Union and Confederate armies for Epic Battle Scale American Civil War.

These are from Warlord Games, and are 15mm tall ('true 15'), with the ranked troops moulded in strips of ten joined at the shoulder. Above are five 60-man regiments of Union infantry, and all-in-all there were 22 infantry regiments for this army, so if we're counting single models it would be 1320 troops. In addition to these, there were Zouaves, Iron Brigade, artillery, cavalry and mounted officers - and almost the same amount of models for the Confederate army which is still ongoing. At the time of writing I have the final 6 infantry regiments to go and then the project will be complete.

These are the Confederate cavalry. I got into a system whereby I can manage to paint, for example, a batch of 5 infantry regiments in between 2 and 3 days; even so it's been an intense project, and as you can probably understand, I needed to switch to something different for a week or so and come back fresh. So I completed a Blood Angels project for one of my regular clients, additions to an army I have been painting over the course of a few years.

This included a Terminator Captain, a kitbashed Jump Pack Captain, a Terminator Assault Squad (pictured at the start of this post), Sternguard Veterans (pictured above), and Sanguinary Guard which I painted in a rose gold with black helmets:

This Captain was made using the hammer arm from the Salamanders character, Adrax Agatone, and a shield from a Bladeguard Veteran. There will be more to come for this army in the next couple of months, but between now and then it's looking very busy indeed with projects including Epic Battle Scale Napoleonic British, Aeldari Corsairs, an Imperial Knight, Imperial Assassins, a D & D character, Warmaster armies, and Necrons. Upcoming Shows Salute is coming up in April, and I'm planning to attend to meet up with folks and do a bit of networking, and then I'll be going to UK Games Expo in May, the plan being to work with Realms of Tiberium for part of the weekend painting at their stand, and spend the rest of the weekend with friends and catching up with folks. There's a 6th Fighting Fantasy Fest planned for September too, and hopefully I will be painting there too - further news as and when I have confirmation. So I think my next blog post will be a report on my time at Salute, which I'm very much looking forward to!
